Certificate IV in Project Management


The Certificate IV is for those who:

  • are part of a team responsible for the development and achievement of project objectives
  • help prepare reports or generate special reports for forwarding to a project manager
  • have responsibility for monitoring and controlling only certain aspects of a project.

Candidature 12 months
Study Workload: Estimated 80 -120 hours plus time spent preparing and detailing assessment tasks (you can complete the course in 20 weeks at 6-8 hours per week)
Entry Requirements: Participants need to be currently working in a project environment - or be able to access a work-based project at the level you wish to study. (Coordinator/team member)

Competencies: The Certificate IV in Project Management is assessed against the following national project management competencies:

Assessment: Consists of a two part work-based assignment during which a project plan for a nominated project is produced. In addition students are required to provide evidence (in an Assessment Record Book) to demonstrate the application of skills and knowledge in line with the competency standard for project management.

SKILLS OUTCOME

At the completion of this course, you will have the skills and knowledge to coordinate, monitor and control critical elements of projects and be able to:

  • interpret project plans and to meet delivery requirements of the project
  • coordinate the activities laid out in a project management plan and support project managers at all levels
  • use mechanisms linked with the project plan for the day-to-day control and monitoring of projects to meet objectives
  • provide quality deliverables and meet reporting requirements

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Given some participants may already be able to demonstrate their competence in some units, RPL is available and acknowledges skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal and informal training and/or learning, work experience and life experience.
